Central Manitoulin Lions Homecoming and Ribfest

Homecoming Weekend and Manitoulin Ribfest is a July long weekend tradition for Mindemoya. Hosted by the Central Manitoulin Lions Club, the weekend involves the annual Canada Day parade, children’s events, soapbox races, cookoffs, beer gardens and a ribfest. The majority of the events are located at the Municipal ball fields in Mindemoya, ON.

Wiikwemkoong Arts and Music Festival

The Wiikwemkoong Arts and Music Festival was founded in 2018 by the Debajehmujig Theatre Group. The event was created to build platforms for young artists, of many disciplines, to be inspired and also garner experience. Having world class established artist perform on the same stage as exciting emerging artists affords this to happen.

Little Current Lions Club Haweater Weekend

Haweater Weekend is the island’s cultural festival that has been around since 1967, originating as a homecoming weekend. Now, 50+ years later, the main focus is on drawing tourists to the island to share the colourful culture, unique local businesses, and fun-filled events. The event is put on by the Little Current Lions Club and events are spread around the town of Little Current and go on for several days, culminating in a fabulous Fire Works Display.  An event not to be missed.

Wiikwemkoong Cultural Festival

In 1961, Wikwemikong Band Member Rosemary Odjig sought to revitalize the Pow Wow in Wikwemikong and held the very first “Wikwemikong Indian Days” held during the summer of that year. Since then the name would change to the Wikwemikong Annual Cultural Festival and would be revered as one of the largest, longest running Pow Wow in North Eastern North America.
